Erythrocyte sedimentation rate explained

CPD hours:
1

The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) is the rate at which red blood cells sediment in a period of one hour - that is - how much they separate from plasma in one hour. It is a non-specific measure of inflammation in the body and is primarily used as a screening tool.

This module will provide a brief overview of what ESR testing is, why it is used, how to interpret findings, and what limitations there are of this test as a diagnostic and monitoring tool.

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

At the end of this module participants will be able to:

  • Understand what ESR testing is.
  • Know the most common reasons for performing an ESR test.
  • Understand the factors affecting the accuracy of ESR.

At the end of this module participants will be able to:

  • This is learning objective 1.
  • This is learning objective 2.
  • This is learning objective 3.
  • This is learning objective 4.
  • This is learning objective 5.
  • This is learning objective 6.
