Strategies to enhance teamwork in acute care settings

CPD hours:
2

Successful collaboration and teamwork are highly sought-after in acute care nursing settings. They help to ensure optimal work environments and the best possible outcomes for patients and families.  However, embracing collaboration in clinical practice is not always easy. Key terms like continuity of care, patient-centredness, and multidisciplinary care are often used without detailed descriptions of how they will be implemented.

Three specific tactics can help healthcare providers improve the way they collaborate in the healthcare environment: effective communication, standardised clinical handover, and embracing a multidisciplinary approach to care.

This module is about how to enhance effective communication through teamwork and non-verbal communication and addresses the common challenges of non-standardised clinical handover. It examines the value of multidisciplinary care.

This module is a brief module, designed to provide tips on how to use effective tactics. It is designed for all those working in nursing and midwifery.

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

At the end of this module participants will be able to:

  • Understand how continuity of care can be enhanced through effective communication
  • Understand how patient safety can be improved with standardised clinical handovers, and
  • Develop a greater appreciation for the positive outcomes that can be associated with multidisciplinary care

At the end of this module participants will be able to:

  • This is learning objective 1.
  • This is learning objective 2.
  • This is learning objective 3.
  • This is learning objective 4.
  • This is learning objective 5.
  • This is learning objective 6.
